New Faculty and Staff

St. Bernard's is pleased to welcome nine new members of the faculty staff for the 2023-24 school year.  We wish them a wonderful year.


 
Shaena Brusey 
Grade III Associate

Shaena Brusey has joined the third-grade team as an associate teacher. She has a Bachelor of Arts in theater with a concentration in acting and a certification in elementary education (pre-k to fourth grade). Ms. Brusey completed her student teaching at Gockley Elementary and Willow Lane Elementary School, both in Pennsylvania. 
 
 
 
Kate Cannon 
Library Assistant

Kate Cannon was a parent at St. Bernard’s as well as a library volunteer from 2005 to 2019. In her role as Library Volunteer Coordinator, she trained and organized volunteers. Ms. Cannon also managed the Used Book Sale for eight years and co-chaired the Book Fair for two years. We are excited to have her back at St. B’s.
 
 
 
Sean Fedeli
Grade VII

Sean Fedeli is our new seventh grade homeroom teacher. Mr. Fedeli has over twenty years
of experience teaching in both middle and high schools. He has taught at the following schools: The Ursuline School, Professional Children’s School, Saint John’s Prep School, Brooklyn Jesuit Prep, and Nativity Mission School. Before starting his teaching career, Mr. Fedeli served as a Second Lieutenant, First Lieutenant, and Captain in the United States Army.

Mr. Fedeli received his Bachelor of Arts in sociology from Yale University, Master of Science in teaching adolescent social studies 7-12 from Fordham University, and Master of Science in school building leadership from St. John’s University.
 
 
 
Hannah Greenberg 
Kindergarten North

Hannah Greenberg has three years of associate teacher experience and four years of head teacher experience. She has worked at the following schools: Golden Door Charter School, Basis Independent Brooklyn, The Buckley School, and The Chapin School. Ms. Greenberg has a Bachelor of Science in education, majoring in special education K-6, from the University of Delaware, and a Master of Education from Capella University in teaching and learning.
 
 
 
Géraldine de Haugoubart
Art

Géraldine de Haugoubart has taught visual arts at P.S. 266 in the Bronx since 2016. She has also taught visual arts at St. Charles High School in Maryland and the Shiprock High School in New Mexico.

Ms. de Haugoubart received her Bachelor of Arts in German studies from the University of Colorado and has two master’s degrees from NYU. The first one is in studio art with a concentration in photography. The second one is in art education.
 
 
 
Bill Leonard 
Old Boys Director

Bill Leonard earned his J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law after receiving his undergraduate degree from Lafayette College, where he ran track. He attended Bergen Catholic High School, a boys school in New Jersey. Mr. Leonard is a loyal Bergen Catholic alumnus and returned to the school as a history teacher and as a track and football coach. He then became a director of admissions, first at Bergen Catholic and then at Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart, another boys school. Mr. Leonard and his wife live in Morristown, New Jersey.

 
 
Isabel Meltzer
Middle School Learning Specialist  

We are pleased to welcome Isabel Meltzer to the Learning Support Team. Ms. Meltzer worked at Allen- Stevenson School for the past five years as a Learning Specialist for fourth and fifth grades. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in inclusive elementary and special education from Syracuse University and a Master of Science in education with a concentration in advanced preparation special education from Hunter College.
 
 
Raul Mizquiri
Chef

Our new chef is Raul Mizquiri, who spent over 20 years at Birch Wathen Lenox School. As a longtime employee of Cater to You, our caterer, Chef Mizquiri has worked with our kitchen staff at St. Bernard’s on special events over the years, and Chef Wells is thrilled with the choice.
 
 

Peter Rachofsky '12 
Latin

Peter Rachofsky is an Old Boy from the Class of 2012. His first Latin classes were with Mark Hauser and Joy Hurd. After St. B’s, Mr. Rachofsky attended Trinity School for high school. He graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in classics from Columbia University and received a master’s of philosophy in classics from Cambridge University.

Mr. Rachofsky previously taught English and Latin at Marymount. He is happy to be back at his first alma mater.
