Archives
Treasures run deep on the shelves of the St. Bernard’s Archives. It is here where one can find lyrics to the St. Bernard’s School Hymn, original grade books of the school’s first headmaster, John C. Jenkins, motion picture footage of potato sack races from Sports Day 1938, photographs of elaborately costumed boys from Shakespeare productions dating back to 1910, and the occasional oddity, such as an engraved martini shaker once owned by a beloved faculty member, Vere Manders, who taught at the school from 1912 to 1952.
The mission of the St. Bernard’s Archives is to identify, preserve, and make available for study documentation regarding life at St. Bernard’s School. To support the preservation of St. Bernard’s legacy, the Archives seeks any of the following material: school assignments, school schedules and calendars, written reports, reading lists, and scripts from class productions, memorabilia, photographic prints, scrapbooks, as well as audio or video recordings.

Collecting for St. B’s Archives
As sad as it is to see a teacher retire from St. Bernard’s, it is most often a time when true gems find their way into the stacks of the archives. -
Captain Fry Book Collection
If you have recently strolled through the stacks in the St. Bernard’s School library and have seen a curious collection of vintage books shelved elegantly amongst the others, you might have caught a glimpse of the Captain Fry book collection. -
2017 Marks the 110th Anniversary of Sports Day
It may have been a rainout, but it still was a milestone! -
Preserving Moving Images in the Archives
Last year a curious canister of 16mm film re-surfaced in the archives. -
Perserving The Budget in the Digital Age
Thanks to the generous efforts of Old Boy Stephen Hauge ’64, funds have been raised by the class of 1964, to digitize St. B’s 108-year-old publication, The Budget. -

St. B's in 25 Objects
After seeing the British Museum’s recent publication of The History of the World in 100 Objects, and The New York Times’s “History of NYC in 50 Objects,” it was hard to resist creating our own list with the remarkable treasures found around the school.
