Participation in the annual science fair offers Middle and Upper School boys an opportunity to explore specific topics within the sciences that are of interest to them. Each boy presents his project to fellow students, parents, and teachers. Boys have the chance to talk about their research and answer questions from those who stop by to admire their display boards.
The hands-on nature of our science program, focused as it is on laboratory work at all levels, challenges the boys to learn in new ways. Learning how to learn is a critical aspect of our program, especially when it comes to the variety of techniques and methods that we both demonstrate to the boys and have them use when creating, doing, and/or analyzing experiments. Mastering a body of scientific knowledge in all six traditional areas of science (chemistry, physics, earth science, human biology, zoology, and botany) is one of the underlying goals of our program.
